If you're in reunion with biological family members — whether brand new, years in, or

somewhere in the messy middle — the excitement of first contact is only the beginning. The

real work is what comes after - the long game.

At this retreat, you'll come away with new tools to navigate the rollercoaster of reunion with

grace so that you can develop healthy and authentic lifelong relationships.

The Long Game is a weekend retreat for adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents, and others

building relationships in reunion with genetic relatives. Participants will learn skills to move

beyond survival mode and into genuinely healthy, lasting relationships.

Who This Retreat Is For:

• Adult adoptees in any stage of reunion — early, mid, or long-term

• Birth/first parents navigating reunion with adult children

• Adoptive parents whose children (adult or teens) are in open adoption or reunion

• People who experience a genetic surprise after DNA discovery - NPEs (Not Parent

Expected) and misattributed parentage (MP) individuals

• Donor-conceived people (DCPs) connecting with genetic relatives

• Other adoption constellation members (siblings, grandparents, spouses, extended

family)

Ideally, we’d love you to come with a genetic relative with whom you’re in reunion so you can

do your work together in real time. However, we expect many will attend to do their

individual work to take back to the reunion relationship for the benefit of all. Pairing examples

– adoptees and birth/first parents, a donor conceived person and their donor parent, an NPE

and their newfound biological parent, adopted person and a found sibling, etc.

What will you learn during the retreat?

Over the course of the weekend, you will:

• Understand the emotional stages of reunion — including the honeymoon, the pull-back, the

long silences, and the unexpected grief — so nothing takes you by surprise

• Learn the GRACE Methodology: a five-part framework that gives you language, structure, and

tools to build healthy, lasting reunion relationships

• Practice real communication skills through guided conversation prompts, role-play scenarios,

and exercises you can take directly into your reunion

• Build a personal self-care toolkit for navigating the moments when reunion stirs up the past

• Leave with a vision and a realistic plan for building the relationship(s) you want
